Sensitive God

God, the creator, the almighty, the all powerful, the omnipotent, the omniscient, the sensitive, wait what?  God is sensitive?  Yes He is!  Now I am not referring to feelings.  He is not easily offended, his feelings are not easily hurt but He is easily activated.  How,  You ask?.  He is activated by sound and by movement!  God is sound sensitive and motion sensitive, meaning just as the sound of clapping hands turn on and off the lights when a clapper is installed and just as the water turns on and off as a result of the hands moving under a motion sensitive faucet head, our God is activated, similarly, by sound and by movement(and yes I really just referenced the clapper and a faucet to get my point across).  I mean he instructs, "draw nigh to me and I will draw nigh to you" in James 4. He is saying you move I move.  Furthermore, as you look back through the history of mankind, you find God allowing His chosen people, the Israelites, to be enslaved 400 years because they turned their backs on Him.  But we find that as soon as they cried out for rescue, He sent rescuers, Moses and Aaron.  But the story that really emphasizes this point is in Mark 6 45-51.  There we find Jesus, just finished feeding 5000 with 5 loaves and 2 fish, he says "good bye" to them and sends his disciples out onto the lake in the boat and He proceeds up the hill to pray alone.  About 3am he comes down and he sees his disciples struggling against the wind and the waves.  They are in a storm and Jesus begins to walk on the water towards them.  Now the next 6 words really messed me up, "He intended to pass them by"  wait, hold up, what?  Jesus wasnt walking towards them to save them?  Well, not according to His Word! Can you say CRAZY?  He is intending to pass on, but then the disciples cry out and immediately His sound sensors are activated and He responds. "Don't be afraid, it is I." And then he climbs in the boat and says to the winds "Be still", and we know the wind obeyed and the disciples were totally amazed! Totally amazed, as I was when I first saw the commercial for the clapper  and experienced a motion sensitve faucet for the first time.  But in all seriousness, I am totally amazed that He has given us the power to activate Him into our lives by the sound of our voice and the movements in our actions!

DUECES-JROB

The Cup

Did you ever consider that we need Jesus not only because of our bad(sin) but also because of our good?  Our so-called good on the day of judgement would be an offense to the HOLY GOD we serve.  His holiness is immense, so much so, it is scary!  Think about it, angels continually sing praises, HOLY, HOLY, HOLY is the Lord God Almighty, as he  reveals new facets of his holiness to them!  Christ did die for our sins but he also died for our best because even at our best we fall short.  That is why we need Jesus as we stand before God on judgement day.  Jesus is the only way we will be found innocent.  God will declare us HOLY because Jesus is HOLY!

Furthermore, you must understand that those who do the will of God not those who merely say    ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’  Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’ Matthew 7:21-23

Believe and then emulate Christ!

As you emulate Christ, do not be surprised that you have to drink from the same cup of suffering that he drank from.  Understand that as we share in his suffering we will also share in his reward.  Remember, every cup has a last drop and know that when your cup runs dry, God will be ready to exchange your cup for a crown, a reward!

KNOWING VS. DOING

To know and to do are two completely different animals. To know is to have something fixed or established in the mind or memorized. We have enough followers that know or have memorized scripture, actually we have non-followers that know and have memorized scripture. Therefore our power does not exist in merely what we know but our power exists in what we do with what we know. Please do not misunderstand, I am not attempting to minimize knowledge but I am striving to maximize action (doing). Knowing makes us responsible for doing, therefore if you seek knowledge, please be aware of the responsibility that accompanies knowledge, action.

What we DO in this life matters! Christ died in this life, for you to have an abundant LIFE on earth and beyond. He did not come and he did not die for you to merely have knowledge of who He was and what He did. No He came and He died so that we would GO and DO what He DID!

What did he do? Well most reading this already know; He healed, taught, loved, cared, rebuked, prayed, cried, suffered, and died. He did all of this outside the four walls of the church. However, that should not encourage us to refrain from meeting on a weekly basis in the confines of the church. That meeting is necessary to fuel our actions outside the walls. But it is just as important, that we as a church, corporately gather and go out into our communities and change the lives through the power of Christ. TAKE HIM WITH YOU AND APPLY HIM TO THE PEOPLE YOU ENCOUNTER!
